History
During 1990 and '91 the ownership group contacted several of the best known golf course architect firms in the country and invited them to come and take a look at the project. Jack Nicklaus came and looked as well as Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. After consideration, it was decided that Weiskopf/Morrish, and their design team, would get the bid. They in turn hired The Wadsworth Golf Course Construction Company, a very well-known group, that did the physical building of several courses throughout the world, was contracted to come in and do the actual building of the course. The layout work went on mostly in 1991, with most of the actual construction of the course taking place in 1992. About 90% of the construction of the course took place in one calendar year, an almost unheard-of accomplishment. The construction was completed on October 31, 1992. The Grand Opening of the golf course was held on July 4th, 1993 with Tom Weiskopf and newly hired Head Golf Professional Randy Shannon playing the first official round in front of a couple of hundred early members and property owners. A big, tented barbecue alongside the 10th fairway followed golf.
